Robin Liss, A06

About Her

Robin is a Summer Scholar working with Professor Kent Portney and Skuse Professor Jeffrey Berry of the Political Science Department on a study of urban government in Massachusetts. Robin is interviewing civic officials and community activists on the workings of local government, with research to be incorporated into her senior honors thesis. In addition, she is a Web entrepreneur, founder of CamcorderInfo.com and DigitalCameraInfo.com.

Her Passion

Helping people — I want to be able to look back on every action that I did and feel that in some way, even a small way, I contributed to society or to the greater good. I am really excited by the way that government and the public sector can be used to improve people’s lives and help the less fortunate.

Her Dream

To improve people's lives and help make the world a safer, more tolerant and peaceful place to live. I believe that the best way to do this on a broad scale is by using government and policy as a tool for positive change. My political science education at Tufts is helping me build a foundation of knowledge of the 'pushes' and 'pulls' of government so I can be an effective leader for change.

Her Proudest Achievement

I took a semester off from school to work in New Hampshire as a deputy press secretary for John Kerry's presidential primary campaign. It was a thrilling experience. We all worked 14 to 18 hour days, seven days a week. In the end we won the primary. Even though we didn't win [the general election], what makes me proud is that I did everything in my capacity to see that my beliefs became a reality.
