The Role of Diet and Nutrition in Personalized, Neuroregenerative Medicine
Dr. Dennis Steindler
Dennis Steindler, Ph.D.
Senior Scientist and Director, Neuroscience and Aging Lab, Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Center on Aging at Tufts University
Through extensive research into the origins and treatment of neurological disease, it is becoming clear that chronic inflammation plays a huge role in affecting the function and survival of cellular networks throughout the nervous system. Furthermore, many of the current therapies that target this interact with diet and nutrient components that themselves can target inflammation and contribute to new approaches for treating diseases like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and cancer. With the need for precision, personalized medicine, the Tufts HNRCA Neuroscience and Aging Lab is studying personalized neuroregenerative medicine models with a focus on diet and nutrition that together with standard of care therapies offer a powerful new approach for treating neurological disease where aging is one of the greatest risk factors.

Students and parents can also share good news with their local papers!
A few times a year, the public relations office at Tufts sends certain kinds of good news announcements to undergraduate students' local newspapers. This could include enrollment at Tufts, graduation from Tufts, and certain honors and awards your child may receive in between.
In accordance with federal privacy regulations, we will include your child in these announcements only if she or he gives us permission by logging into the WebCenter and visiting the "Hometown News Release" function to authorize this service. If your child chooses to opt into this system, the newspaper announcements will potentially include her or his name, home city, state, major, degree earned, and the nature of the good news
If you have any questions, please call the public relations office at (617) 627-4703.
