Jonathan Schwartz is executive director of campaign management and has principal responsibility for planning, directing, implementing, and evaluating both the annual and long-range activities of the university’s comprehensive campaigns, with particular focus on the structure and management of campaign volunteer leadership. Prior to joining Tufts in December 2014, he was senior associate vice president for advancement and director of university campaigns at the University of Rochester where he helped orchestrate that institution's first $1B+ campaign. At Rochester, he also oversaw the units of Capital and Special Projects, Advancement Communications, Alumni Relations, and Donor Relations. Jonathan previously served as assistant vice president for development and senior director of capital projects at Washington University in St. Louis, where he played a central role in execution of that university’s most recent comprehensive campaign. Jonathan's career as an advancement professional started at the California Institute of Technology, where he served in a variety of roles, including principal and major gifts work, staffing Board of Trustees task forces and committees, and co-management of a successful $100M campaign for the biological sciences. Jonathan is a graduate of Georgetown University, where he majored in history and English. He also has a master's degree in radio, television and film from Northwestern University, and has also done extensive coursework in theFilm and Television Critical Studies program at the University of Southern California.
